Importance of a 5-Point Harness Carseat

YouTube has removed the music from this video, to view it with the original music, please go to: www.kyledavidmiller.org or http PLEASE READ THIS AFTER YOU WATCH THE VIDEO…Very Important Information… Statistics show that 90% of all children’s car seats are incorrectly used or installed! To find a location to get your carseat installation inspected, go to: www.safekids.org and click on “Find a Technician” on the right. **********NEWS************ We have begun a non-profit foundation recently in honor and memory of Kyle. (please view our new video on YouTube.) You can find the webpage here – www.kyledavidmiller.org Our mission is to keep children in a 5pt safety harness up to 80lbs – we are accepting applications from families who cannot afford to purchase these car seats and are supplying those seats through the tax-free donations you can make through the site. We also have car seat safety information posted and will answer any question you have on car seat safety through the contact webpage. Please visit the site and help keep as many children safe as we can. Please note that the Britax Regent, Britax Frontier and Sunshine Kids Radian 80 are the ONLY 3 car seats that harness up to 80 pounds. There is a lot of confusion about this because some car seats will convert to a booster and show a higher weight limit but that weight limit is for the booster mode, not the 5-point harness mode. If you do not have one of these 3 seats, please check your car seat manual if your

I would like to thank you for posting this video. I have 5 children ages 10, 6, 5 ,3, and 5mo. 3 of my children sit in the same booster seat your son and daughter had. As of tomorrow morning I will be buying all new car seats. You have changed my life for the better and I’m so sorry it had to come as a result of a loss of a wonderful child. I wish you and your family wonderful healing and wish you all the very best.

The Sunshine Kids Radian XTSL will also forward face using the 5-point harness and SuperLatch to 80 lbs, AND can rear-face using SuperLatch to 45 lbs. My 3 y/o is 30 lbs and about 38 inches tall, and he is still happily rear-facing – which is the safest position to prevent spinal cord injuries. I am SO very sorry for your loss, and I commend you for using this tragedy to educate other parents.

I commend you on what you are doing. I have a 2 year old and a 4 year old. My two year old is still in a harness seat but my 4 year old isn’t, but after today she will be. This tore me up because of how old my kids are. It really touched me and many others. Happy early Birthday to little Kyle. May he RIP.

I just came across this video and wanted to say how beautiful your son was, and how much this has moved me. I am currently 24 wks pregnant with my first child, a boy, and I will never forget this advice you have given. Kyle will change, and must have already changed, so many people’s lives.

  17. d103cc says:

this is a wonderful video kyle has changed my life. when i am in the mall and i see people with babies who dont have the chest clip at armpit level i go and tell them the right way then i give them kyles name and tell them they need to harness as long as possible

I first watched this video 2 years ago, and posted a comment then as well. I just watched it again, still hard to watch. We did purchase a Britax seat and I know that our daughter will not be going in a car unless she is in a proper seat such as the britax. Everyone should have to watch this!

I can’t listen to that song anymore without thinking about this video. It’s a shame they pulled the song. Isn’t there a time when copyright should be overlooked? This is a very useful video. God Bless Kyle and his family.

I saw this video close to when it was first posted.
I still think of your family, and I did this morning again on hearing “Far Away”.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment to making people aware of the importance of car seat safety. My son just outgrew his Britax Frontier (biggest he could be in in Canada).
My other son is smaller and will be in a 5 pt harness til he outgrows it too.
Bless you and your family, and your beautiful Angel Kyle.
    Peace and love from Canada….

I am so sorry the loss of your beautiful son. I just bought my 4 year old son a booster yesterday (even though he is only 36 lbs) because his baby sister needed his car seat and it was too tight for him. I am taking it right back to the store immediately and buying him a bigger 5 point harness seat. Thank you for helping to save the lives of many other children, mine included. God Bless You and your family.

i have 6 year old twins and they are still in the 5 point harness seats that are mentioned here; they go up to 80lbs. i researched this before buying a regular booster because i never felt comfortable with the regular booster, so glad i did…my heart aches for you, but thank you for this wonderful video..god bless…
