Bill Maher, from HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, opens his new film Religulous this week. Bill sat down for an exclusive 1 on 1 with National Lampoon’s Matt Zaller for the Zaz Report to discuss God, Politics, Religion, and the American election. Bill dishes on the almighty, organized religion, Sarah Palin and John McCain, and most importantly, how to correctly pronounce his name. Religulous is as funny as Bill Maher is, so the funny meter is quite high. Christianity, Islam, Judaism, the after life? It’s all fair game!

“how do u know this?”
hhhaha@ his voice when he says it but he has a point
THE MAN!!!! Cant wait to see him in August
i have always seen Maher as another narcissistic, 90s cokehead, tele-jerk. he got punted by ABC for his post-9/11 comments, which were statements originally made by Hezbollah for an interview with CBS.
thats even more retarded, do u hear urself speak sometimes?? do u actually read what u write?
??????
Im right here
Why can’t there be more people like Bill Maher?!!!!
Don’t be ashamed of being an atheist!
I think the woman are the power behind religion, they drag the men to church on sunday, where they wouldn’t go normally. Most men won’t admit it because of the wife, but they know it’s BS. Don’t ever tell a woman you are an atheist.
Remember when Beavis and Butthead used to make fun of Christian Slater’s name?
Christians? later!!
ha! that s**t was funny..
nobody knows who to worship! but anyways my girlfriend is die hard christian and i am probably consider myself agnostic but we both know and dont really care. she more like looks at me as a gulable person but oh well. just start showing her controversal subjects and say its interesting and you two will get into the topic and just tell her you dont know. aint that hard. DO IT
wow man your kind of in my shoes but i believe there is a god. you dont have to be christian to believe in god. nor worship anyone or anything.
Ok talking sanke was a human when god turned him into snake so bill was worng on that.
Thank you for your good wishes asutra01, since you may care, I will tell you how it went, you see I spent the new years eve with my girlfriend’s family, and when they started praying she noticed I wasn’t doing anything, her brother told me “It is not important to believe, but to respect”, and she told me “that doesn’t change the way I feel about you”, easily one of the best days of my life
wow good luck,my g/f is /was [were not together today] catholic and although I professed agnostism I went to church with her and had many various conversations re religion. When I tried to get her to read/view things to the contrary, she would say, their trying to rewrite history .Then,I would say ,how do we know history wasn’t flawed anyway. She just looked at me! I wish you luck cause I didn’t have any.
Thank you for your advice, let’s hope it’s not a big of a deal.
i’d say tell her. tell her you respect her right to have beliefs and she should do the same even if she doesnt agree with them. my ex girlfriend was really religous and we would have debates all the time. didnt effect our relationship.
Wel yeah, my girlfriend is Christian and i’m an atheist… and she doesn’t have a clue.
How do I tell her I’m an atheist without getting her to cry or something? I really love her and I don’t mind her being religious, but I don’t think it’s ok to hide my beliefs from her.
any ideas?
parrots can immitate noises, they dont talk you fucking moron
how do you know? have been to hell? are there nothing but atheists down/up/in there?
It’s sad that Bill doesn’t even know that a-theist means not a theist, and that’s all.

My response had more to do with your comment about marriage. To answer your question- No. It would not bother me to marry a religious person. Religion is not the same for everybody. Many Christian/Catholic/Jewish and Buddist persons use religious teachings in their lives simply as a moral guide and they do not believe in the fables of religious texts. Fundamentalist Christians and extremist Islamic followers take their dogma literally and this leads to their insane beliefs/actions.
why u tellin me that? dont think its got much 2 do with the point i was makin. anyway, i would say most people who are serious about thier religion do take thier scriptures literally. thats the problem, if they werent takin literally and only used as a moral guide or sumthin along those lines then there wouldnt be jihads etc.
Most religious persons (who also happen to be “normal” persons) practice their respective relgions out of tradition and do not adhere or believe the more bizarre concepts involved with religious texts (I.e.- a burning plant “talking” to Moses, a golden angel speaking to The Great Shamwow, etc.)
